Septic Hip Lavage

admin

Dr. Prasad Gourineni recommends urgent lavage of septic arthritis at any age.  Arthroscopic lavage is more efficient than open lavage for a thorough irrigation. The technique does not require traction or any disposable instruments.

1. The needle enters the joint at the middle of the anterolateral neck, and slid across the anterior neck.

2. Alternating inflow and outflow through the same cannula fills and sucks out the joint with just one portal.

3. At the end of the case, the drain is put in through the cannula and held in place while the cannula is pulled out.

Open arthrotomy on the left and single portal arthroscopy on the right.
